The Supermicro SYS-110D-16C-FRAN8TP is an Intel Xeon D system based on Ice Lake D. This is a 1U server designed with front I/O and plenty of networking.

We're tearing down a $70,000, 3000W AMD AS-2114GT-DNR server by Supermicro that could be used in a supercomputer cluster. Wendell from Level1Techs brought one of these for us to look at in this tear-down. This server has two full systems with 6 total AMD Instinct MI210 GPUs and two EPYC CPUs.

We are looking at a server optimized for AI and machine learning. Supermicro has done a lot of work to cram as much as possible into 2114GT-DNR (2U2N) - a density optimized server. This is a really cool construction: there are two systems in this 2U chassis. The two redundant power supplies are 2,600W each and we'll see why we need so much power. It hosts six AMD MI210 Instinct GPUs and the dual Epyc processors. See the level of engineering Supermicro put into the design of this server.

This router has dual 25 gig which is pretty cool. Also there are 20 cores in this router. This will still be running 10 - 15 year from now.

This is a lot more than the 2Gb Internet connection we got! We deployed Supermicro 510P-WTR server for LAN cashing. 510P-TWR absolutely saved our bacon and the CPU usage is not even that high. It is surprising how easily 510P-WTR handled the download speeds with just a couple of NVMe drives.

The Intel Xeon D embedded SoC product line is an amazing platform and has been extremely popular amongst VMware customers for VMware Homelabs and running workloads both in the Datacenter and at the Edge using kits like the Supermicro E200-8D and E300-9D to just name a few.

The push for enhanced compute density continues, and servers like Supermicro's 1024US-TRT, which hails from the company's 'A+ Ultra' family, are designed to answer that call with generous compute capabilities paired with copious connectivity options.

This week at Embedded World 2022, Supermicro introduced an update to a solution that we have taken a look at before. The company announced that it has updated its pole-mounted system dubbed the Supermicro IP65 Outdoor Edge system with the new Intel Xeon parts including Xeon D.

The SYS-210SE-31A is SuperMicro’s latest entry in the increasingly popular edge server segment. Intriguingly, this 2-unit, 430mm short-depth server offers three hot-swappable nodes, each with a single CPU and eight DIMM slots.

Supermicro has a number of systems targeting this market under the Embedded/IoT category. Their SuperServer E100 product line makes use of motherboards in the 3.5" SBC form-factor.
